Listed below are our class descriptions. Not all classes are offered at all times.  Placement is determined by the Instructor based on both ability and age. Please call for more information!

 

Pilates & Yoga (Adult)

Classic Pilates class is
combined with traditional Yoga poses to stimulate and stretch
while strengthening; a great way to prepare for and greet the day!
Great for all fitness levels!
 

Family Zumba​​​​​​

"Zumba combines high energy and motivating music with unique moves and combinations that allow the Zumba participants to dance away their worries. It is based on the principle that a workout should be 'FUN AND EASY TO DO' in order for Zumba participants to stick to the Zumba fitness program to achieve long-term health benefits. Zumba is not only great for the body, but it is also great for the mind. It is a 'feel happy' workout." 

Bring children of all ages; non-walkers in carriers. No
charge for children under 5 with Parent.

 

Adult Dance Fitness 

(17 & up)

Come move your body! Sweat! Shake! and Pop! Express your grown-up SWAG! Hip Hop and Latin moves make you sweat!

 

Ballet (8 & up)

Ballet class in traditional format; barre, stretch, center, across the floor, and combination. Students are instructed on correct body placement, correct ballet technique, and ballet history (as well as the history of classical composers). Students will learn ballet in a fun, upbeat environment. French terminology is used from the first class on. Students are encouraged to progress in a safe, body friendly way.

 

 

Ballet/Tap (5-7)

Ballet class in traditional format; barre, stretch, center, across the floor, combination, at an age appropriate rate. Students are instructed in correct body placement, correct ballet technique, as well as encouraged to move independently in their own expressive way at a pre-determined time in class. Locomotive skills are challenged, and self-discipline is reinforced in a slightly more structured manner than a Creative Movement class. Students will learn ballet in a fun, upbeat environment. French terminology is used from the first class on. Students are encouraged to progress in a safe, body friendly way. Basic rhythms and tap steps are taught.

 

 

Jazzy Tumblers (5-7)

Jazz class in traditional format; stretch, isolations, center, across the floor, and combination at an age appropriate level. “Jazz dancing is a form of dance that showcases a dancer's individual style and originality. Every jazz dancer interprets and executes moves and steps in their own way. This type of dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns.” Students are instructed in correct body placement, correct jazz technique, in an age appropriate manner. Students will learn jazz in a fun, upbeat environment. Acrobatic tricks and flexibility are introduced (forward and backward rolls, cartwheels, round-offs, back bends, leg extensions, etc).

 

 

Dance Stretch & Conditioning (8 & up)

Dance fitness class, that promotes strength, flexibility, and endurance. Expect a little of everything. Great addition to traditional workouts, preparation for dance/drill team, competition, and tryouts.

 

 

Improvisation & Choreography

This class is for the student interested in developing THEIR OWN choreographic skills. Students will explore improvisation, contact improvisation and create their own original pieces!

 

 

Social Line Dances

Fun for all ages! Learn the latest Line Dances from Country to Club and Party! Stay active, relaxed and have fun!

Creative Movement (3-5)

Potty trained 3-5 year-olds are encouraged to develop coordination, rhythm, self-expression and self-discipline in a fun, energetic dance class. Students are led through class with the aid of props and child-friendly music. The students will be exposed to call and response, appropriate spatial and body awareness, basic locomotor movements, rhythm and musicality, and basic ballet. Basic ballet, jazz, and tap terminology and steps are introduced. Expression is highly valued in this class, non-competitive. Great introduction to a dance class environment.


Contemporary​​​​ (8 & up)

A mixture of modern dance and popular dance styles. Ideally creating new exciting forms of expression. Students are encouraged to actively participate in choreography and composition. Proper technique and alignment are emphasized, combination are created in class, as well as variations from other artists to increase exposure for the student.

 

 

Lyrical (8 & up)

A dance class that focuses on expressing the lyrics of age appropriate music. Lyrical technique is taught in traditional format stressing grace and the flow of movement; stretch, center, across the floor, and combination. Students are instructed in correct body placement, and are encouraged to progress in a safe, body friendly way. 

 

 

Pom (7 & up)

Jazz class in traditional format; stretch, isolations, center, across the floor, and combination. “Jazz dancing is a form of dance that showcases a dancer's individual style and originality. Every jazz dancer interprets and executes moves and steps in their own way. This type of dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns.” Students are instructed in jazz technique, hip hop moves, cheer sharpness & arms and basic tumbling! Fun and upbeat!


 

Hip Hop (8 & up)

Hip hop is taught in both traditional forms (popping, locking, breaking, etc.) with room given for self expression as well as “new-style” and lyrical hip hop. Students are exposed to hip hop history, from it's beginnings and it's influences, from social components to music. This class is fun, and age appropriate (in design, movement, and music; Ie. No profanity or inappropriate movements). 

 

 

Star Kick Line (14 & up)

The dance class for those already on or intending to try-out for high school dance, drill, or flag teams. Strength, flexibility, kicks, turns, leaps, and combinations are taught with proper technique. Students will also be coached on exuded the proper attitudes, cheerfulness, and team spirit. This class will perform for community and charity events!

 

 

Cheer and Stunt (8 & up)

This class will focus on the basics of tumbling, stunting, cheering, jumps, and cheer dance.  Students will also be coached on exuded the proper attitudes, cheerfulness, and team spirit. Students will have opportunities to perform their skills and cheers.

 

 

Tap (8 & up)

Tap dance is a form of movement that uses the feet to perform as a percussive instrument. Students will learn traditional rhythms and steps while using the upper body to enhance performance. Tap history is explored as well as it's connections to jazz and the American culture.

 

 

Boot Scoots 

Students will be introduced to Country and Pop Line Dancing. This is a fun and relaxed class, taught at age appropriate levels. No uniform required! For both boys and girls!

 

 

Roll Out of Bed Bootcamp! (Adults)

Do more before 6 AM than others do all day! NO EXCUSES! Get your workout in early! Combination of resistance training, bands, props, pilates, yoga, aerobics, and dance fitness. Have fun, tone and get to this challenging class! New Year's resolutions welcome! Prepare to sweat and see results! YOU CAN DO IT!

 

 

Boys Dance 2!

Combination dance class, featuring Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop and Contemporary! Fun and just for the guys!

 

 

Baby Latin (4-8)

Students will be introduced to Merengue, Bachata, Salsa and Cumbia. This is a fun and relaxed class, taught at age appropriate levels. No partner required! For both boys and girls!

 

 

 

 

Class Uniform

All Uniforms are to be purchased from ODDC.

If you already have dance shoes, please ask if they will be appropriate for class. 

It is important that students costumes and shoes match for Recitals and Competitions. We offer very reasonable and competitive prices for dance attire and shoes.  Dance shoes will not change in color or brand in the foreseeable future, and only need to be repurchased when worn or outgrown. 

 

Baby Body Bop:

No uniform for class; some performances will require a Black Leotard and Pink or Tan Tights. Bare feet.

You may also purchase a Wrap Sweater, Racer Back Bra or Convertible Bra.  These are the only warm-ups and undergarments allowed in class.

 

There will be "Fun" weeks announced throughout the year in which students will be able to wear what they choose (within reason) to class.  For example, the week of Halloween, students will be permitted to dance in their costumes.
