Listed below are our class descriptions. Not all classes are offered at all times.  Placement is determined by the Instructor based on both ability and age. Please call for more information! Classes offered: Baby Body Bop, Twinkle Babies Dance™, Twinkle Star Dance™, Ballet 1 & Ballet 2, Lyrical, Contemporary & Modern, Pom, Hip Hop Jazz Funk, Tap, Sassy Fit Dance

Baby Body Bop -
Ages 18 months - 2.5

A thirty minute introductory dance class for 18 months - 2.5 year old Body Boppers! Kids will dance, wiggle, pop and drop to fun upbeat music, learning basic hip hop dance moves and making friends. This class is for both Child and Parent! 

 

Twinkle Babies Dance™ - Ages 2.5-3.5

A thirty minute introductory dance class containing ballet, tap and creative movement. Young dancers will learn the basic steps while learning how to follow direction and imitate movement in a positive environment. Engaging music is used to get these little guys inspired to dance. The use of props such as Twinkle bears and hula hoops, enables the young dancers to use their imagination, creativity and, most of all, have fun!

Twinkle Stars Dance™ -

Ages 3.5-4.5

An age specific 45 minute class containing ballet, tap and jazz/creative movement. The purpose of the class is to introduce young dancers to the three styles of dance and inspire movement and creativity within a positive environment. Dancers will also learn basic steps and terminology in all three styles. For example, all dancers will learn what a “plie” is and how to demonstrate one. The use of fun, age appropriate music engages the young dancers’ minds and bodies. The use of props such as hula hoops for the “freeze dance” makes the end of class the most fun! 

 

Twinkle Stars Dance™ -

Ages 4.5-6.5 

An age specific 60 minute class containing ballet, tap, jazz/creative movement and acrobatics. The purpose of the class is to introduce young dancers to the three styles of dance and inspire movement and creativity within a positive environment. Dancers will also learn basic steps and terminology in all three styles. For example, all dancers will learn what a “plie” is and how to demonstrate one. The use of fun, age appropriate music engages the young dancers’ minds and bodies. The use of props such as hula hoops for the “freeze dance” makes the end of class the most fun! 

 

Ballet 1 & Ballet 2 

Ages 7-12 

Ballet class in traditional format; barre, stretch, center, across the floor, and combination. Students are instructed on correct body placement, correct ballet technique, and ballet history (as well as the history of classical composers). Students will learn ballet in a fun, upbeat environment. French terminology is used from the first class on. Students are encouraged to progress in a safe, body friendly way.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lyrical, Contemporary & Modern -

Ages 8 & up

A dance class that focuses on expressing the lyrics of age appropriate music. Lyrical technique is taught in traditional format stressing grace and the flow of movement; stretch, center, across the floor, and combination. Students are instructed in correct body placement, and are encouraged to progress in a safe, body friendly way. 

 

Pom -

Ages 7 & up

Jazz class in traditional format; stretch, isolations, center, across the floor, and combination. “Jazz dancing is a form of dance that showcases a dancer's individual style and originality. Every jazz dancer interprets and executes moves and steps in their own way. This type of dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns.” Students are instructed in jazz technique, hip hop moves, cheer sharpness & arms and basic tumbling! Fun and upbeat!

 

Hip Hop Jazz Funk -

Ages 8 & up

Hip hop is taught in both traditional forms (popping, locking, breaking, etc.) with room given for self expression as well as “new-style” and lyrical hip hop. Students are exposed to hip hop history, from it's beginnings and it's influences, from social components to music.  Jazz technique, warm-ups and across the floor excercises are studied. This class is fun, and age appropriate (in design, movement, and music; Ie. No profanity or inappropriate movements). 

 

Tap -

Ages 7 & up 

Tap dance is a form of movement that uses the feet to perform as a percussive instrument. Students will learn traditional rhythms and steps while using the upper body to enhance performance. Tap history is explored as well as it's connections to jazz and the American culture.

 

Sassy Fit Dance

Ages 18 & up!

Come move your body! Sweat! Shake! and Pop! Express your grown-up SWAG! Work out and enjoy Hip Hop, Chair and Latin moves that make you sweat!

Class Uniform

All Uniforms are to be purchased from ODDC.

If you already have dance shoes, please ask if they will be appropriate for class. 

It is important that students costumes and shoes match for Recitals and Competitions. We offer very reasonable and competitive prices for dance attire and shoes.  Dance shoes will not change in color or brand in the foreseeable future, and only need to be repurchased when worn or outgrown. 

 

Baby Body Bop:

No uniform for class; pink or black leotard and tights are available. Bare feet or pink leather ballet shoes.

 

Twinkle Babies  AND Twinkle Star Dance:

Twinkle Pink Leo and Tutu, Pink Tights, Ballet Shoes, Tap Shoes, Twinkle Bear


Ballet:

Black Leotard, Pink or Tan Tights, Ballet Shoes

Optional: Skirts or Shorts


Contemporary, Lyrical & Modern:

Black Leotard, Pink or Tan Tights, Contemporary/Lyrical Shoes

Optional: Shorts

 

Hip Hop Jazz:

Black Leotard, Tan Tights, Hip Hop Shoes

Optional: Shorts or Capris

 

 

You may also purchase a Wrap Sweater, Racer Back Bra or Convertible Bra.  These are the only warm-ups and undergarments allowed in class.

 

There will be "Fun" weeks announced throughout the year in which students will be able to wear what they choose (within reason) to class.  For example, the week of Halloween, students will be permitted to dance in their costumes.
